Fracking Water Supply Hose— TPU Layflat Hose
For high‑volume water transfer & flowback fluid in hydraulic fracturing
This TPU layflat hose is specifically engineered for large‑volume, high‑pressure water supply and flowback fluid transfer in shale gas and oil hydraulic fracturing operations. It is widely used for long‑distance fracturing water transmission, as well as for returning contaminated flowback fluids from underground to treatment facilities.
When not in use, the hose lays flat — enabling compact storage, easy transport, and quick field deployment, making it particularly well‑suited for temporary installations at fracturing sites.
The hose features a three‑layer co‑extruded construction built for durability under extreme field conditions:
Inner & Outer Layer — Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU): Smooth, low‑friction inner surface for high flow capacity, excellent chemical resistance to fracturing fluids and flowback contaminants. The extra‑thick outer cover resists gouging, abrasion and punctures even when dragged repeatedly across rough terrain.
Reinforcement Layer — High‑tenacity polyester yarn: Circular woven jacket that provides tensile strength, pressure resistance and low elongation, preventing 'snaking' when pressurized.
The hose is manufactured using a co‑extruded double‑sided method combined with the extrusion‑through‑the‑weave process. The TPU material is simultaneously applied to both the inside and outside of the woven polyester reinforcement jacket in a single continuous operation, creating an inseparable homogeneous hose wall structure without the use of adhesives. This distinct production method effectively prevents delamination and ensures superior bond integrity throughout the hose‘s entire service life.
Extreme Wear Resistance TPU offers one of the highest abrasion resistance levels available among elastomers, making the hose ideal for the extremely abrasive environment of open pit mines and rocky terrain.
Cold Temperature Performance Remains flexible down to -50°C (-58°F) without hardening or cracking — unlike PVC which becomes brittle in freezing conditions; suitable for Canadian, Russian and Nordic operations.
Chemical & Weather Resistance Excellent resistance to commonly used fracturing chemicals, UV radiation, hydrolysis, ozone and fungus degradation, ensuring long‑term outdoor reliability.
High Flow Capacity Smooth inner wall minimizes friction loss for maximum flow efficiency.
Low Elongation & Expansion Anti‑kinking design with minimal stretch under working pressure maintains stable flow path.
Lightweight & Compact Significantly lighter than rubber alternatives, reducing shipping costs and manual handling. When idle, the hose flattens to minimal coil volume, saving on‑site storage space.
Based on industry benchmarks for TPU layflat hoses in aggressive oilfield fracturing and mining applications:
Under normal operation within rated temperature range and good handling practice — 3 to 5 years
On rugged terrain with frequent deployment and retrieval — 2 to 3 years
Under extreme high‑wear conditions — 1 to 2 years
✓ Why TPU outperforms rubber & PVC
TPU can last 50% longer than rubber in high‑wear fracking water supply applications under comparable conditions. Compared to PVC, TPU typically lasts four to five times longer in the same demanding transfer application. TPU remains flexible down to -50°C, while PVC hardens and cracks; rubber stiffens significantly in extreme cold.
※ Actual service life depends on operational frequency, ground conditions, fluid media properties and handling practices. Routine inspection is recommended.
TPU delivers highest abrasion resistance in its class, full UV stabilization, excellent hydrolysis resistance, and wide thermal tolerance from -50°C to +80°C.
Extra‑thick TPU outer cover adds wear‑and‑tear material, specifically engineered to extend lifespan under extreme abrasion and puncture risk conditions (rocky terrain, open‑pit mines).
Conductive static wires optionally integrated for continuous electrical path between couplings, ensuring static dissipation during oil or combustible fluid transfer.
